Adu-Asare sure of picking NDC Adenta ticket

The Member of Parliament and a parliamentary hopeful of the ruling NDC for the Adentan constituency, Benedict Adu-Asare, is optimistic delegates will re-elect him as the party's candidate for the 2012 general election.

According to him, not even the opposition NPP can deny his "unprecedented" service to the constituency over the past three years. This, he said, will be a massive boost for the NDC during the December general election.

The NDC held its parliamentary primaries for the "non-orphaned" constituencies last Saturday simultaneously in all regions except Greater Accra Region.

The primaries for Greater Accra were rescheduled for Saturday, January 28, due to a number of problems characterizing the electoral processes.

The contest is expected to be filled with tension as some constituencies will be keenly contested.

The MP had earlier on decided not to seek re-election; he, however, rescinded his decision weeks later and filed to contest.

Speaking on Asempa Fm's Ekosii-Sen on Thursday, Adu-Asare noted that he had done enough for the constituency and deserves re-election.

Mr. Adu Asare reckoned the people of Adenta will hail his re-election because “my people know I can lead them for another four years with good service”.

“We are not looking for just a candidate but the one who can win the seat once again for the NDC. I am already there and working hard so who else should be voted for? The devil you know is better than the angel you do not know so I am the obvious choice” he noted.

The MP bemoaned the use of money instead of message to persuade delegates in the constituency by his opponents in order to get votes.

“Some people are using money but I will resort to my message to get the required votes".

Mr.Adu Asare conceded that the NPP's candidate, Frances Essiam is a formidable candidate and needs an experienced person to outrun her in the 2012 elections.

He charged delegates of the constituency to massively vote for him on Saturday in order to retain the seat for the NDC.
