The Members and the Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) – Virginia branch deem it fit and proper to congratulate the founder of our Great NDC Party, Former President Rawlings, his dear wife Dr. Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings and all cadres on the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of the 31st December Revolution that led to the formation of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) and put Ghana on the path of lasting multi-party democracy.

Thirty years ago gallant men and women of the Ghana Armed Forces led by His Excellency Flt.Lt. Jerry John Rawlings put their lives on the line to rescue our dear country from total decay by launching the 31st December Revolution that set Ghana on the path of progressive nations.

On this occasion, NDC – Virginia salutes you, all cadres and the fallen HEROES of the Revolution and we say Ayee Koo to all nation loving Ghanaians! We also want to thank you, His Excellency, for the sacrifices that you, your dear wife, Nana, as well as all cadres and the likeminded Ghanaians have made over the years to bring Ghana from retardation (negative growth) to where we are today. We appreciate all the efforts you made in restoring the Dignity of our dear nation in the International stage.

We cannot forget the shattered economy, the deteriorated railway, road networks, factories, industries and ports. We can also not forget hoarding and profiteering, kalabule, zinabu, and the long queues just to buy a basic necessity; cocoa beans that were left to rot due to the very bad nature of the rail and road networks before the 31st December Revolution.

With your hands-on leadership style, you led Ghanaians into the hinterlands to haul Ghana's precious cash crops by foot to the ports, and actively participated in the rehabilitation of the road and rail networks. This led to the transformation of Ghana's economy.

By your leadership style, you encouraged the cadres and all Ghanaians indeed to sacrifice a little more for their Country. No doubt University Students had to leave their lectures in order to undertake taskforce exercises, helping in all spheres of the economy. You instilled the spirit of patriotism, nationalism, self-help and grass root participation in the Ghanaian populace.

On this occasion, all Ghanaians must be reminded of the cornerstone of the Revolution: Probity, integrity, Accountability, Transparency, Social Justice, Development of Country and Individual as well as Positive Defiance and Elimination of Pervasive Culture of discriminatory bias.

With your visionary leadership, you led the Country into this new era of grass root democratic dispensation, the Fourth Republican Constitutional rule, drawn by the ordinary people of Ghana.

We must all be reminded again and again that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is an offspring of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC). This reminder, we hope must guide the behaviour of every Member of the party, be it small or big. We must be aware that the NDC is a Party of the grassroots and the veranda boys! We must all know that President Jerry John Rawlings is a TOWER OF STRENGTH and the Cornerstone of the Great Akatamanso family.

We therefore wish President Rawlings, First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, and the Cadre Corps, the entire membership of the NDC and All Peace loving Ghanaians Good Health and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY.

LONG LIVE 31ST DECEMBER REVOLUTION

LONG LIVE NDC

LONG LIVE GHANA.
