Sekyedumase (Ashanti Region) - Dickson Addai, Chairman of the Ejura-Sekyedumase Urban Council, has described as unfortunate problems that have beset the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and turned the party into a laughing stock in the constituency where the National Democratic Congress (NDC) holds sway.
He said the conflict in the constituency was as a result of the selfish interest of some people and that the internal squabbles were affecting the political fortunes of the party.
Speaking at a party forum at Sekyedumase with members from Bayere-Nkwanta, Drobonso, Abuom, Nsuoagya, Frante and Enyaso, Addai said modern day Parliament was not a matter of shouting, "yes, yes" in favour of policies.
Dr Joshua Ayarkwa, Presiding Member of the Ejura-Sekyedumase District Assembly, appealed to members and supporters to remain loyal and renew their commitment and dedication to the cause of the party to ensure total victory in the 2004 elections.
He told the members that he would contest the party's primaries for the parliamentary seat. Dr Ayarkwa appealed to party members to close their ranks to prevent certain selfish individuals from breaking their front.
