Mpraeso (E/R), Nov. 30, GNA – National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters in the Mpraeso constituency have congratulated Mr Joseph Omari, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kwahu South, on his election as parliamentary candidate of the party for the 2012 election.

The constituency chairman, Mr Attah Obeng, who congratulated the elected parliamentary candidate, told the Ghana News Agency that the party had great confidence in Mr Omari and expected him to wrestle the seat from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the coming elections.

Mr Omari defeated Mr Kwame Anim Somuah, a businessman, in a parliamentary primary held at Adawso.

Mr Obeng said since the appointment of Mr Omari as DCE for the area, he had initiated more than 70 different developmental projects, ranging from education, health facilities, road construction, and markets structures to improve the standard of living of the people.

He appealed to supporters of the defeated candidate to rally behind Mr Omari to help move the party forward.

He said it was unfortunate that since 1996, the NDC had not been able to win the Mpraeso seat and attributed it to so many factors including the inability of the party to get a marketable candidate.
