Laudash Company Ghana Limited has launched a solar-powered roof exhaust vent, a home-cooling roofing system, onto the Ghanaian Market.

The product which is environmentally friendly with energy applications is designed to remove excess heat and moisture from the roof of buildings to protect the roofing systems of homes from premature deterioration.

Launching the product in Accra, the Chief Executive Officer and President of Laudash Ghana Limited, Mr Emmanuel Ashong, said the vent was a smart energy saver due to its solar powered nature and ability to eliminate utility costs thereby reducing excess air conditioning costs.

In addition, Mr Ashong said the system allowed a continuous flow of air through the roof, and prevents roof rots.

He said the solar cooling system also helped to lower temperatures in living rooms, and safeguarded the roof against mildew damage as well as limit the growth of harmful moulds.

Mr Ashong said that when the system was installed, there was significant reduction in utility cost incurred from the prolonged use of air conditioners.

The solar system, designed to withstand prolonged significant natural occurrences like differences weather conditions, removes damaging heat and moisture from the roof and improves ventilation systems as compared to roof louvres or turbines-style vents, as well as extends the life span of exterior paints of buildings.

According to Mr Ashong, the system, manufactured by a US-based company, Wood Technologies Incorporated, has a life span of ten years and costs between US$450 and US$625.

He urged Ghanaians to try as much as possible to get the system installed on their roofs to live comfortably in their various homes while lowering their utility bills.
