Bolgatanga, Nov. 17, GNA – Chiefs in the Talensi Nabdam District on Thursday reiterated their plea to the Upper East Regional Minister, Mr Mark Woyongo to help the area with its developmental projects and the deplorable roads.

The Chiefs included the Paramount chief of the Tongo Traditional Area, Saabalug Na Malteng, Sakote chief, Naba Sigre Bewuo and other sub chiefs from the Talensi Traditional Area and they were accompanied by the Talensi-Nabdam District Chief Executive, Mrs Vivian Anafo, to pay a courtesy call on the Regional Minister in Bolgatanga.

Presenting the plea on behalf of the Chiefs, Mrs Anafo appealed to the Regional Minister to come to the aid of the district in the construction of their roads which she said were in a deplorable state.

She she said contractors who were assigned to work on some portions of the road in the area had abandoned the project and called on the Minister to intervene to save the situation.

The Paramount Chief of Sakoti Traditional Area also said the deplorable nature of the roads was making life unbearable for the people and called on government to help solve the situation.

He thanked the government for creating new districts in the Upper East Region, including plans to carve out a new district from Talensi Nabdam.

Mr Mark Woyongo assured the chiefs that plans were far advanced to facilitate work on the Tongo roads to help promote economic development in the area and urged the chiefs to remain focused and committed to their course and discourage miscreants who intend to disrupt the governance process.

He called on the chiefs to unite and help promote peace and stability in the area and appealed to the youth in the Talensi Nabdam area to resort to dialogue in dealing with developmental issues.
