UGAG Elects new officers

On Saturday, the 5th. November, 2011 the National Reprensentatives Council (NRC) of UGAG met at Stuttgart, the car manufacturing city to elect new officers.

The election ended with Mr. Daniel Dake (Stuttgart) taking the position of National President with Mr. William Nketia (Cologne) being elected as Vice- President. Mr Daniel Torkornoo( Darmstadt) took the role of General Secretary whilst Ms Bertha Adjei (Mannheim-Ludwigshafen) and Mr. Christian Yamoah Gyasi(Worms) were elected as Financial Secretary and Organising Secretary respectively.

The out-going President, who did not contest congratulated the newly elected officers and pledged his unflinching support for the in-coming executive board.

In his acceptance speech on behalf of the elected executives Mr. Dake thanked the delegates for the trust put in him urging members to pull their strength together to build a strong and a united UGAG, we need to agree and disagree he continued.

He further said that one of the tasks and challenges ahead is to rebuild the trust in UGAG and increase its number.

Mr. Dake regretted that the entire African student community in Germany is less than 1% of the entire German student population and therefore expressed the need to motivate our Ghanaian children to study at the tertiary institutions. Our local unions must work harder and propagate and strengthen the issue of higher education in the various Ghanaian communities he concluded.
