Accra, Nov. 5, GNA – The Greater Accra regional executive committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Saturday confirmed that Ms Frances Asiam is the Parliamentary candidate for the Adentan Constituency for the 2012 parliamentary election.
A press statement released by Mr Michael Ampong, Greater Accra Regional Communications Director, of the party said “this release intends to put to end speculations in certain quarters of the media and the public that she has been disqualified by the party”.
“We want to put on record that the official process for selecting the party's parliamentary candidate ended on 30th Aril 2011 and Madam Frances (Asiam) was duly elected by the Adentan constituency delegates' conference as their candidate, hence the party still upholds the outcome of the parliamentary primaries,” the statement said.
It added: “Though we acknowledge that there have been challenges and differences within the constituency the party has committed itself to finding a lasting solution to all the problems in order to present a united and formidable party come 2012 to wrest power from the ruling NDC government and to win back the parliamentary seat in Adentan.”
