Prosecution said Mr Aboagye complied and took Oppong to the nearest drinking spot and bought him the quantity that he (Aboagye) felt was enough for his friend.
He said on their way out of the spot, the convict requested for more of the drink but Aboagye refused whereupon Oppong attempted to forcibly take money from Aboagye's pocket to buy the drink.
“When his friend resisted the attempt , the convict took offence, butted him in the face, beat him up mercilessly and left him unconscious on the ground”, the inspector added.
Inspector Lartey said a passer-by who appeared at the scene rushed Aboagye to the Presbyterian Clinic in the town where he was resuscitated and later transferred to the Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital.
