Some assemblymen of the Nadowli East District of the Upper West Region have accused the Nadowli District Youth Employment Coordinator Bartholomew Nambazin of embezzling allowances of employees of the programme.
They are asking Sports Minister Kofi Humado to set up a team to investigate him. They also want Mr Nambazin to step aside, fearing he will interfere with any investigations into his conduct if he stays in office.
The assemblymen were addressing journalists in Wa.
Danon Basuglu who is assemblyman for Chala EE and Spokesperson for the group, claimed the NYEP Coordinator does not only follow some beneficiaries to the bank to claim as much as six months out of their seven month allowances, he also personally withdraws money from beneficiaries' accounts.
“Some beneficiaries left the programme to further education at the time the money was not yet available and he denied them some months they worked for,” he stated.
Mr Basuglo said if the Youth and Sports Minister fails to act, there will be a street protest to draw attention to what he called the bad leadership of Mr Nambazin.
But the NYEP Coordinator says there is no truth in the claims.
He denied receiving money from any beneficiary of the NYEP.
