Nkrumah and now Gaddafi: 'Also the African Union's proposal on the Libyan crisis should have been seriously considered. The event in Libya where the recommendations and authority of the AU was completely ignored requires that African Leaders reflect on the need to forge a stronger continental body'. CPP

Many in Africa will remember the late Brother Gaddafi just they remembering Nkrumah for their efforts in forging greater political and economic integration in Africa. Similarly, Gaddafi's investment in many sectors of the African economy will also be remembered. It is too late, leaders of Africa should have been more bold and forceful perhaps flying to Libya and rescue Gaddafi from American special trained forces calling themselves rebels.

The OAU was meaningless to the Western nations in the past so shall it continue to be same with the AU unless Africa becomes independent.

The western world is independent nations whereas Africa is of dependent nations. An independent nation is a nation that is able to revere the land it occupies. Independent nations feed on cultivating at least 85% of her land, and also give leftovers to dependent nations. An independent nation invests at least 60 to 70 percent of their human and financial capabilities in agriculture.

As long as our leaders continuous to beg the west for food, handouts, loans, donations to uplift their people from bad economic situations, their views will not matter in international affairs. If Africa can feed herself of her land then we have a chance to sit at table with the west as equal partners.
