Kaleo, Oct.15,GNA - The Youth inKaleo Traditional Area in the Nadowli District of the Upper West Region at the weekend expressed their gratitudeto President John Evans Atta Mills for creating a new district out of the Nadowli West Constituency for the locality.

Mr Matthew Song-Aabo, a youth leader thanked theruling National Democratic Congressfor giving identification to the chiefs and people.

He said the request for a district had been on the drawing board fora number ofdecades and that the move wasa vindication of the dreams and aspirations of thepeople.

“We are again exceptionally happy that the government of the day is not oblivious of the imperatives of decentralisation process,thatis why it has used the powers vested in it in Article 254 of the 1992 Constitution to let governance and power trickle down to people at the grassroots – in this case, Kaleo and its environs”, Mr Song-Aabo added.

He called on all citizens of the area to galvanise the necessary support for the infant district, sayingPresident Mills laudable action would be fruitless if the sons and daughters of the area failed to rise up to the challenges and harness the needed resources for itsgrowth and development.

Mr Song-Aabo said the district was endowed with good road network, electricity services, health facilities and potable water as well as mobile telephone networks and tourist sites.

He called on investors and corporate bodies to take advantage of these amenitiesto invest in thedistrict and expand their businesses for the benefit of the people.

The Youth Leader also expressed the chiefs and people gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Alban S.K. Bagbin, Member of Parliament for Nadowli West and Mr Sam Garbah, Administrator of the Ghana Education Trust Fundfor working hard with President Mills to give the people a “new baby”.
