NII ARMAH Ashietey, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, has called on chiefs and people of the various traditional areas within Greater Accra to put aside their differences and unite.

This, he said, would put an end to rampant chieftaincy disputes in the various Ga states.

The minister made the call when he presented five bottles of Schnapps, five crates of assorted alcoholic beverages, five crates of assorted soft drinks and an amount of GH¢2000 to the Tema Traditional Council as part of government's support for the celebration of Homowo in the area.

According to Nii Armah, the constant chieftaincy disputes within the region were hindering socio-economic developments in the area, imploring that any chief who had issue should seek redress at the National House of Chiefs.

He called on the National House of Chiefs to accelerate the process of settling chieftaincy disputes in the area for peace to prevail in Accra, adding that it was important residents got closer to the chiefs for blessings during festivities like Homowo.

Nii Ashietey urged chiefs to leave a legacy for future generations to follow.

He remarked that as the custodian of the land, the traditional council deserved support from government, hence the donation from the presidency, which according to him would go a long way to make the celebration of the Homowo Festival complete.

The minister mentioned that the gesture was extended to other chiefs and people of areas like La, Teshie among other Ga stools, adding that they would be calling on the Dodowa Palace at a later date for a similar donation.

Receiving the items, the Tema Mantse, Nii Adjei Kraku II, congratulated government for such a kind gesture and prayed for a long relationship between his people and the government.

The minister was accompanied by the Mayor of Tema, Mr. Robert Kempes Ofosu-Ware and some officials of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly.
