30.09.2011 LISTEN

Ambain(W/R), Sept. 30, GNA - The Member of Parliament(MP) for Ellembelle and Deputy Minister for Energy, Mr Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah has called on Ivorian refugees at the Ampain refugee camp to be law abiding and not to take the law into their own hands.

He said since they were in Ghana, the laws of the land bound them in all activities and therefore admonished them to use a civil way of seeking redress when they felt intimidated by the actions of their fellow refugees.

He made the call during a visit to the camp to interact with the camp manager on the security situation and the general atmosphere in the area following the murder of two inmates of the camp.

On behalf of President Mills, Mr Buah donated 10 streetlight bulbs, two sets of jerseys and two footballs to the ladies soccer team at the camp.

The MP explained that President Mills had the security of the refugees at heart and said the donation of the streetlight blubs would enhancesecurity in the camp.

He added that he would arrange with the office of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to get a permanent security team to man the camp.

The Camp Manager, Mr Kelly Forson thanked President Mills through the MP for his concern for the welfare of the refugees and appealed to the MP to expedite action in getting permanent security personnel for the camp to safeguard any further disaster.
