Court fines Galamsey operator GH200 for biting nose

Akim Oda, (E/R) Sept. 14, GNA - The Akim Oda Magistrate Court presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor, has imposed a fine of GH¢200 on Kwaku Boateng, a small scale miner (Galamsey operator ) for biting the nose of a farmer, Yaw Kwarteng during a scuffle.

The court also ordered the convict to pay GH¢300 as compensation to Mr Kwarteng.

Boateng, alias US who pleaded guilty to causing harm would serve 18 months imprisonment in hard labour in default.

Prosecuting Police Inspector Kwaku Appiah, said at about 21 hours on August 21, Mr Kwarteng and Boateng went to a spot where a witness in the case was inaugurating his store.

He said the witness asked the convict to control some children causing nuisance around the premises and in the course of doing so, he attacked the victim without provocation.

Inspector Appiah said Boateng also chased Mr Kwarteng and bit part of his left nose.

Mr Kwarteng reported the case to the police leading to the arrest of the convict.
