Vodafone Ghana, a mobile telecommunications company, has welcomed the National Communications Authority's announcement of July 7, 2011 as the date for the introduction of Mobile Number Portability (MNP) in Ghana.
Carmen Bruce-Annan, Head of Corporate Communications at Vodafone said, 'Vodafone's preparations for the launch are at an advanced stage and the company looks forward to welcoming new subscribers who will like to port their numbers to Vodafone's network from July 7, 2011.'
She said Vodafone was pleased that its competitors had decided to follow Vodafone's lead in not charging Ghanaian subscribers who port to other networks.
'As champions for MNP in Ghana, Vodafone firmly believes that making porting free to Ghanaian consumers will stimulate positive demand for number portability and encourage Ghanaian consumers to move their numbers to the network which best meets their needs, in terms of value, quality and innovation,' Mrs. Bruce-Annan noted in a statement issued in Accra yesterday.
The statement said Vodafone has finalised the training of its staff to equip them with the requisite skills in readiness for the MNP launch.
