WILL KONADU REJECT A CPP VOTE?

WILL KONADU REJECT A CPP VOTE?
13.05.2011 LISTEN

A person who does not know the road might think that the bus has veered off the road especially if you are travelling on the road between Nandoli and Nandom. On the other hand, which driver will not fall into potholes when the passengers are taunting him, blindfolding him, pushing him here and there, obstructing him and even deflating the tyres, destroying the breaks and placing road blocks? Which driver will not veer off the road when some key passengers are trying to push him aside and steer the steering wheel while the bus is on high speed?

Since I am not bold, I will not dare attack anyone but still I will assert myself. President Mill, John Mahama, Newman, Duffour, and many others are being accused of being CPP or having CPP origins. I have no doubt that most of the NDC bigwigs are of CPP origin and in fact NDC claims to be an Nkrumaist party. This being the case, will it not amount to petty divisiveness if respectable members of the party are now being identified and their origins traced and used as a reason to reject them in leadership positions in the party?

On the other side, the flagbearership of NDC has its final aim of winning 2012 elections and therefore delegates will have to be looking out for a candidate who can really marshal support from all corners for victory. If members are being partitioned CPP and True NDC, how can the very person who did the partitioning come back and convince the CPP elements in the party to vote for her now that she has won the flagbearership position?

Besides, let's note that the flagbearership contest of NDC has many interested parties. Obviously there are two internal parties interested namely the President and the former first lady. Additionally and possibly most NDC members don't pay attention to this, there is an external interest also which is more dangerous and cunning and it is nothing other than the great NPP. Surely they want to come back to power and therefore will be elated should a “dented” (an easy-to-manage) flagbearer be chosen. This is not all, we should not also lose sight on the fact that with their media empires they can easily and cunningly sell out to the consciences of many NDC sympathizers the one they feel comfortable with. This leads me to point out the fact that most known pro-NPP radio stations have been the champions of Nana Konadu's candidacy notably PeaceFM and does it tell us something?

Back on a topic I started earlier, it is statistically clear that even if all NDC members vote for NDC, the party will not win. Hence there is the need of floating voters and also votes from other political parties. Therefore if in the flagbearership primaries, card-bearing members are to be rejected because of their CPP origins, how can we convince floating voters and those from other minor parties that they will feel at home if they join and vote the great NDC? NDC needs a unifier, someone who will not partition the party but gather all together and even win sympathy votes from other parties for victory. Besides will Nana Konadu reject a CPP vote?
