Awiebo, (W/R) April 30, GNA - The Ellembelle Constituency Executive of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said it approves the candidature of President John Atta Mills in the 2012 Presidential election.
It has, therefore, encouraged the Nana Agyeman Konadu Campaign Team to reconsider its stance in order not to breed any unhealthy rivalry in the party.
The Ellembelle constituency organiser of the NDC, Mr Kwame Amofa, told the GNA at Awiebo in the Western Region.
He advised NDC delegates not to be swayed by money but to vote according to their conscience.
They should, therefore, endorse the bid of Prof. Mills for a second term.
Mr Amofa noted that the two-and half year-reign of the Mills-led administration had witnessed a massive improvement in developmental projects as part of the Better Ghana Agenda.
He said it would be tantamount to political suicide if the party did not allow the incumbent President to continue with the projects he had initiated in a second term in office.
The NDC Organiser said Nana Konadu should have waited for a better time to indicate her interest although the constitution of the land guaranteed her right to do so.
Mr Amofa rejected opinions in certain quarters that the government was under-performing and was slow.
He said Prof Mills had been able to market himself well as a potential candidate to the electorate in a matter of two and half years hence calling for a substitute was nothing short of 'short-sightedness'.
He, therefore, advised party delegates to be very critical of the situation and vote for Prof Mills to continue to better the lot of Ghanaians.
