Why Does Rawlings Disrespects Our Presidents And Heads Of State?

1. Rawlings showed gross disrespect for Ghana's President who gave us Independence from British Colonial Rule, when he took away a house belonging to Madam Fathia Nkrumah allocated to her by Col. Kutu Acheampong. Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah who built all the estate houses of Tema for many Ghanaians did not own a house. The only one given to his wife by the state was taken away from her by Rawlings, so that when Madam Fathia died and wished to be buried in Ghana, she did not have her own house, and had to be taken to a public place to prepare her corpse. Is anything more disrespectful than this? Rawlings took her single house for his girlfriend, daughter of Justice Annan. This is a fact and can be verified by all!

Colonel Akwasi Amankwa Afrifa

2. Rawlings killed Colonel Akwasi Amankwa Afrifa, a soldier par excellence and a most colourful, charismatic, and brave leader. He led the coup to unseat Kwame Nkrumah's Dictatorship, Life President and CPP One Party State to give us the democracy and freedom we all enjoy today. His coup with Col. Kotoka was universally acclaimed as Ghanaians praised them. Afrifa was a former Head of State, who had handed over power to Democratic Government in 1969 and was not part of Kutu's Government overthrown by Rawlings in 1979; and with no proven guilt this huge icon of many people in this country, was treated by Rawlings like a game by shooting him repeatedly at Teshie Public military range, and then threw his corpse into a mass grave. Rawlings can make 'sabe sabe' today but Afrifa was a better, smart, intelligent and superior person than JJ would ever be. He is a bloody coward to use arms to arrest him and shot a former head of state like a film show.

Col. Ignatius Kutu Acheampong

3. Rawlings murdered another Head of State of Ghana, Col. Ignatius Kutu Acheampong. The same Ghanaians have hailed his coup and supported his Operation Feed Yourself and many schemes up to UNIGOV. In his time, there were many coup de tats attempts but He never once killed any of them. Ghanaians even said Kutu does not like blood. His kalabule regime was an indictment not on himself alone but the whole Ghana Armed Forces, whose personnel took turns to rule us. Yet Rawlings hauled him before the Teshie range and killed him in public by shooting by Firing Squad. He then threw him in a mass grave. By hindsight, Acheampong's government of 6 years was better than Rawlings 19 year rule. Kutu was kalabule but did he sell any of Ghana's state properties like Rawlings did in his divestiture of 300 State Enterprises to Gaddafi, his wife and cronies? That is proper kalabule and yet another former head of State of Ghana bite the dust from the assassin's bullet. Rawlings killing of Afrifa was shocking to some of us to date!

General F W Akuffo

4. Rawlings also killed another Head of State, General F W Akuffo in a most disgraceful, cowardly cold murder. Gen Akuffo was not part of Kutu's NRC Government between 1972 and 1978. He intervened when things were not going on with Kutu's Unigov that rocked the country's polity. Then he did a palace coup to remove Acheampong and set into motion a process to Return Ghana into a Civilian Rule by conducting elections for Ghana. He was in power for barely three years and not part of the rot. Then Rawlings and his motley rag tag crew staged a coup against him on 31st May 1979. Rawlings was caught and instead of summarily killing he, and his rag tag coup makers in the heat of political storm, he refused and put him before a show trial, as part of the democratic process. But on June 4th 1979 Boakye Djan led a successful coup and removed Akuffo. He could have made himself the next head of state, but he gave way to his friend he had rescued from imminent death; his reward was Rawlings killing his beloved young brother Kyeremeh Djan in harrowing circumstances and buried in a mass grave until it was discovered over 15 years later. The way and manner Rawlings killed General Akuffo was so sorrowful. He was not arrested during the coup and went into hiding leading to a huge security manhunt for Akuffo by Rawlings. Then Akuffo gave himself up in the house of Moderator of Presbyterian Church. The Moderator, Catholic Bishop, Methodist Moderator and Head of Christian Council negotiated with Rawlings for clemency as he had shown him earlier. They then led General Akuffo to Rawlings in the Osu Castle. Rawlings thanked the High Priests for bringing him the man who had his fingers pulled at his 31st May Uprising. In a grotesque show of disrespect and disdain for the High Priests, Rawlings shamefully and callously killed our former decent Head of State by shooting by firing squad in a Public Execution at Teshie Military range to military band procession.

Dr Hilla Limann

5. Rawlings also treated the elected President of the third Republic of Ghana, Dr Hilla Limann like a common criminal. My blood runs cold recalling how he hounded the leader of PNP Government, which has been elected in a free and fair and well-contested election in 1979. From the day he handed over power to Dr Limann, JJ Rawlings never stopped harrying and hustling Limann, running around Legon and Broadcasting houses followed by Special Branch Undercover Officials, who reported his attempts to do a coup. People demanded Limann to snuff him out but he refused. With the Tsikatas in tow, Rawlings dabbled and schemed and contrived another coup de tat to remove the elected PNP Government into its third year, the same way he does now. Rawlings then subjected Dr Limann to slow painful death, putting him under house arrest, denying him access to medical care until our beloved uncorrupted President of Ghana died in melancholy.

Rawlings then ruled Ghana from 1981 to 2000 (19 years).

President J A Kuffuor

6. Rawlings treatment of President J A Kuffuor was the most regrettable episode in Ghana's politics. His offensive affront to NPP government could never have been tolerated during his dictatorship. The insults, name calling, undermining, criticism, abuse and lies perpetrated by Rawlings throughout Kuffuor's government threatened the democratic process, but Kuffuor wore on. So many of us pleaded with President Kuffuor to go for Rawlings and remove the indemnity clause Rawlings had placed in Ghana's constitution to bar probity and accountability h himself had inserted in the same Constitution. He was lucky Rawlings did not overthrow his government and killed him. Even now Rawlings is after Kuffuor and will kill him at the least opportunity from how he says his only grievance against Atta Mills is not he going after Kuffuor and his government officials. Rawlings will kill Kuffuor the following day his wife becomes President of Ghana, bet me! Rawlings did not overthrow Kuffuor but his criticism and incessant campaign and lies upon lies against him significantly caused the downfall of Ghana's fine progressive government for a most bogus government. We live to see whether this man can get his hands on our man Kuffuor: That is the time Rawlings will wish he was not born.

Professor Atta Mills

7. Rawlings is back again against another elected President of Ghana, Professor Atta Mills. I will never understand this in my life. The same one man is back again to undermine an elected President merely two years four months into his government. Rawlings ruled Ghana continuously for 19 years without challenger. Altogether he has ruled Ghana for almost two DECADES out of five decades of self rule. Is that not enough for any one man in any country? Twenty good years of unbridled dictatorship! Atta Mills was in his government since 1984 and appointed as head of Internal Revenue Service in his PNDC Government. He then became his Vice President for a whole term of Rawlings Government. He then contested two major elections as Leader of NDC in 2000 and 2004 and lost to JA Kuffuor and NPP. Rawlings claims he alone won the elections for NDC. Lies, pure white lies! We were all here when he saw Professor Atta Mills going on house to house campaign in an unprecedented nationwide campaign, touring all the constituencies. No Politician in Ghana has ever carried out such a mighty campaign. He was given no chance. He was cast as 'asomdwehene', as a reference that he won't be like JJ Rawlings, even when the opposition said he is a stooge of trouble causer Rawlings. The ewe NDC brigade now clamouring for more control of power hid behind Atta Mills as he led a new committed NDC group to wage a fierce campaign against a formidable NPP Government, which has chalked many successes in Government and widely acclaimed in the International Community as a good example of efficient democratic government in Africa. NPP Government has even discovered Oil and led an expensive political campaign bringing on a whole razzmatazz of following. Then in a shock result President Atta Mills drew a Second Round behind the incumbent government and popular Nana Akuffo Addo, and subsequently won the elections in his third attempt. He was sworn in January 2009. Just two years ago. But since his first year into his administration Rawlings is after him the same way he has done to our Presidents and Heads of State. He insults him in public, order him about on national and international matters, lying and lying about him, undermining his authority, until finally Rawlings has decided to replace him with his own wife as Party Leader, with an incumbent President of the same. Rawlings now wants his wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, to become Ghana's President, and has unleashed so much strife, division, rancour and trouble in the ruling Government, which needs decorum, peace and order to manage a Country facing so many difficulties of unemployment, low agriculture, education and poverty.

Why does Rawlings disrespect our Presidents and Heads of State and treat them so poorly? Does he have respect for Ghanaians? Does he sincerely believe he is the most important person In Ghana? Does he own Ghana? Since 1979, Rawlings has controlled Ghana like it belongs to his father. Is it fair for Rawlings to do all these things against a whole country and its leaders? Why is he supported to do these things against the good people of Ghana?
