Let us make education our key to success

Kumasi, March 30, GNA - The President of the Kumasi Polytechnic Chapter of the Ghana National Union of Polytechnic Students (GNUPS), Mr Abraham Borkettey, has urged his compatriots to consider education as the key to success and strive towards that.

He said: "We need to take informed decisions about our own future and stop all other forms of ungodly acts and lifestyles such as drug abuse, robbery, vandalism, rape and the likes that might ruin our lives or create a bad name for the country. We should be responsible in our daily activities and in life."

He was speaking at the 34th Annual GNUPS Celebration Week of Kumasi Polytechnic in Kumasi, under the theme, "Deepening Democracy in Africa; the Role of the Ghanaian Youth."

Activities planned to mark the occasion include, "Talks on Health Issues", "Sporting Activities", "Socialization" and Thanksgiving Services, to crown the week

Mr Borkettey said since democracy is a powerful weapon that could be used to transform society for the better and that thrived effectively on functional literacy.

He called for quality educational programmes for the polytechnics to ensure job marketability and international recognition.

He appealed to African Governments to take bold steps in solving the recent violent conflicts in Libya and in La Cote D'Ivoire to ensure peace in those countries.

Mrs Cynthia Osei, Dean of Students Affairs and Director of Communications Skills, urged the students to take their studies seriously and let punctuality be their guiding principle.
