March 28, 2011 Gomoa Fetteh (C/R), March 28, GNA - The Evangelical Presbyterian Students Union (EPSU) of Accra Newtown has donated items worth GH¢ 1,000 to Village of Hope Orphanage at Gomoa Fetteh.

The items donated include bags of rice and maize, cartons of milk and kalypo, sugar, bread, soap, toilet rolls and used clothes.

Mr Israel Agblevor, President of EPSU who presented the items on behalf of the members, said EPSU had selected to support the home annually because of the effort it had made to raise and train children who were abandoned.

"EPSU aims to reach out to children with special needs to bring joy and smile to their faces", he said.

He said the donation was to show love and care to their brothers and sisters at the orphanage and called on other churches and organisations to donate to the Home.

Mrs Matilda Adu-Poku, the Senior Mother of the Home, said the donation portrays the Christian spirit in the church and advised others to follow their example.

She said the Home had financial challenges making it difficult to maintain the Home and feed the children.

She said despite these challenges, the Home takes good care of the children and aims at establishing a Senior High School and other institutes of higher learning in the area.

"Government does not assist us but we have been able to establish clinic and Junior High School that serves the Home and communities around", Mrs Adu-Poku said.
