March 01, 2011 Obuasi, March 1, GNA - A Roman Catholic Priest has called for healthy working relations between the junior and senior staff of the AngloGold Ashanti (Obuasi) Mine to help achieve higher productivity.

The Reverend Father Peter Nkansah of the Saint Patrick Catholic Church at Obuasi Brahabebome said there was also the need to establish effective management-employee rapport to promote industrial peace.

He was delivering the sermon at an inter-denominational thanksgiving service organized jointly by the Mine and the Obuasi Union of churches.

The event is held annually to give glory to God and pray for the continued successful operation of the Mine.

Rev Fr Nkansah reminded the workers to help the company to achieve its production target set for the year, stressing that, the mine had been playing a major role to boost the economy of the municipality.

He spoke against acts of nepotism and urged the company to always employ qualified and God-fearing personnel to help the growth of the mine.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), John Alexander Ackon, expressed appreciation that both the Christian and Muslim faithful had participated in the service and said there should be no doubt that with increased gold production the local economy would also improve.

Nana Asirifi Asare II, Edubiase Krontihene, said it was the wish of the traditional council that the company achieved success in its operations.
