Students and authorities of Yaa Asantewaa Girls Senior High School (YAGSS) in Kumasi are excited at the delivery of free laptops and internet routers by mobile telecom operator MTN.

They expect the ICT gadgets will aid in the application of technologies in teaching and learning at the school.

YAGSS was among five old school associations named among old folks with highest text messages in an MTN promotional drive, as part of the 2010 Joy FM Skuuls Reunion event.

Students and staff of the school joyfully witnessed a short presentation ceremony on the school's premises.

Headmistress of YAGSS, Mrs. Elizabeth Malik Jabir said the presentation will propel the school to excel in this year's senior high school examination “because they're going to fish out for information and increase the number of As they're going to get”.

She commended the old students of the school – Adehyee – for affording the school the opportunity to receive the gadgets.

Northern Sector Manager of MTN Ghana, Sam Addo, said the presentation is part of the company's commitment to educational development in the country.

Meanwhile, he told Luv FM over two million people in Ghana are currently patronizing MTN's mobile money services, which is popular among the student population.
