The Council of Elders of the PNC will meet later today to consider a proposal by chairmen from all ten regions that the elders take over the running of the party.

The party is in a leadership crisis as its executives battle members of a disputed Interim Management Committee over who has the right to man the affairs of the PNC.

Chairmen from all ten regions met in Kumasi yesterday and asked the Council to intervene immediately.

The Chairman of the Council of Elders, Mr Dan Yahaya told Joy News today's meeting will decide what action is appropriate.

He said the elders were determined to settle the dispute currently raging between the IMC and the executive.

Mr Yahaya said if taking temporary charge of the PNC will bring peace to the party, they will not hesitate to do that.

He said the council is also worried about the likely fallout of a pending court case involving the two factions.

According to him, efforts will be made to get the complainant to withdraw the case out of the police station and the court.
