Bawku, Jan. 4, GNA - Mr. Musah Abdulai, the Municipal Chief Executive for Bawku, has said the Municipality was fast regaining its stature after intermittent conflict.

He said some businesses had bounced back to life as a result of the sustained peace in the area and that the assembly had provided the Municipality with 15 boreholes from its internally generated revenue.

Speaking at the Samanpiid Festival of the chiefs and people of Bawku, Mr Abdulai said seven six-classroom blocks with other added facilities were awarded on contract under the GETfund project during the year.

Two clinics and additional 15 boreholes were being provided under the Community Based Rural Development Programme (CBRDP).

He said the assembly used its own grader to improve several road networks in the municipality along with works done by the Department of Urban and Feeder Roads.

Mr Abdulai appealed to the youth of the area to take advantage of the prevailing peace and take their education seriously.

He said the area would benefit from government prioritized policies including job creation and infrastructure development should the people bury all divisive tendencies.

Mr. Dominic Akudagu, the District Chief Executive for Garu-Tempane, told the people that poverty, disease, ignorance which were the challenges confronting the region could not be overcome should they fail to come together to fight them.
