WHICH YARD STICKS ARE USED FOR LIBERIAN POLITICIANS?

Liberians, when their voting rights were made known to them order then their representatives in those dark days which were hand picked by the elicits power at that time to represent their constituencies at their dictates and to their will and pleasure than what is enshrined in the Liberian constitution after several decades of one party system under the autocratic and suppressive regime of the grand old true whing party that misruled Liberia for hundreds and twenty plus years.

The grand old True Whing party membership partition this capital Monrovia in its lands distributions and today it is personalized and royalties in term of big rentals for properties illegally built with tax monies of the poor Liberian indigenous being paid in the thousands of dollars to the families members of these former government officials in the diasporas to the detriment of the common Liberians that goes to bed hungry daily in this political dispensation in Liberia.

The political playing field in Liberia has and continues to be personalities driven than issues which should has been the basis for any civilized people with right thinking concept that want the best for themselves when it comes to decision making for their betterment as has been the best practice the world over.

Since the coming into being the level political playing field after a fourteen years devastation Liberian from all walks of life voted on educational linage, beautifully looking, eqiloquaint public speaking with tenses not even understand by the voting public and their ill acquired wealth to cater for their family known in the Liberian sector as so-called rich person,etc!

Indeed, when the process that today leads to the ever free, fair and credible elections that brought the Unity party led government to leadership Liberian from researched vow to bring on board people to transform this nation void of ethnicity, cronyism and to in total do away with those ills that send their Nation into turmoil which of course brought Madam Sirleaf to the Presidency after seeming these characteristics into her.

But, again as the Nation purse to go to the more challenging contest the words of personalities contest has shown its ugly heads with major stake holders calling each other names, pointing fingers at what they described as the person is not fit for the presidency than issues that brought Liberians to their knees as they go to bed on empty stomach.

The voting populace, is yet to wake up to the realities of voting their consciences in term of judging the candidates for what they are able to do for their struggling people that has been left in the cold after getting empty rectories from politicians and still wanting to make decision that will not serve their best interest for another six years

remained the cardinal problem in the history electioneering in the Republic of Liberia.

What is unfolding in Liberia politic today, is any body guest giving the fact that people has chosen to ignore the reality on the ground but has joined in the ban wagon of misdirecting their vocal missiles at the people according to them are more trouble makers than their own candidates.

From all indications, Liberian in most instances has not shown any independency when it comes to making their choices reason being primarily almost 99 percents of the voters don't belong to any political party and as such they are considered floating voters that are suggested to be gullible and belly driven. The most astonishing part is the one percent party voter has no direct loyalty to the party or parties that they claimed to have membership with or are willing to die a little for said party or parties.

As of the time of writing this article, personalities within the ranks and files of some major political parties researched has shown that from time in memory the politicians of old built a political system that they themselves don't trust because their interests in what they can gather for their generation yet unborn as has been the tradition of the Liberian politicians.

Surprisingly, today's some Liberian politicians up rightly refused to change the status quo because most of them were mentored by the same old heads that passed on the mantle of dishonesty and wealth garbling to some members of the present corps of politicians thus keeping the visual circle from one generation to another.

The present practice of the Liberian voting populace not judging their politicians for what they can offer and hold them to their promises in making sure said politicians live up make good their promises is an alarming situation for a Nation that is testing their democracy after a long years of civil disobedient for decade plus.
