Should Nana Konadu Win NDC Flagbearership…
Happenings in NDC could be compared to that of the rising and falling of sea tides; as there have been moments of low tides so also will there be moments of high tides. Without an iota of doubt, the currents events in the ruling party are clear indications of high tide moments. These events accelerated with the displeasure expressed by Nana Konadu concerning pictures of the sitting president and the JJ, that such cordially portrayed by such pictures is a phantom. Then followed by the press release of Rawlingses alleging that they are being maligned by some members of their party. The tides reached their apogee with the emergence of the campaign posters of Nana Konadu within the same month.

Thank God I am not an NDC member for I could have burnt my card. However, I have been thinking that possibly all this hullabaloo might be directed to a person who has no intention of doing such things – I mean Nana Konadu. On the other side, it could also be that Nana Konadu is not actually focusing on 2012 but preparing the grounds to take off in 2016. These are possibilities!

Above all, let it be that, Nana Konadu actually targeting 2012 on the ticket of NDC; this will mean that she will be contesting against the sitting president Prof Mills at the party level. It also means that she will have to have a campaign message to convince the delegates to elect her. And after winning, she will have to have to convince the entire country to vote her to power; surely this campaign will have to be in two ways namely 'message based on achievements of the party' and 'message based on what she will be doing'. Besides all these, personal credibility and history play key roles.

The other important thing which people will like to know is why the person she campaigned for just last four years, the sitting president has been dropped. And why she feels she must take over from a sitting president from the same party. For this reason, Nana Konadu will have to have very concrete reasons to justify it. However, will the opposition also market from such political muddle? This just a rhetoric question. Above are difficulties which NDC will face should my hypothetical case occur.

Now as an ordinary Ghanaian, it will be totally incoherent to tell me that President Mills didn't do well that's why he was not elected at the congress while campaigning on his achievements unless she decides to ignore totally Prof's achievements which on the hand will be politically suicidal and even erupt more confusion.

In conclusion, should Nana Konadu win NDC flagbearership, will the party have a common front to campaign? Will the party really have a concrete and convincing message to campaign on? Will it be able repel the missiles of the formidable opposition. Let me end with the words of their founder, Rawlings “We survived the malice of the NPP, can we survive the treachery of our own?” Good luck NDC!
