On the 26th of October, there will be a press conference at 10 a.m. at the Meagasa Mathematics Academy Auditorium, Lashibi, to report on the regional Show," a statement issued by the President of the Ghana Mathematics Society, Prof. Sitsofe E. Anku, said.

The show will be held on the theme: "Mathematics for national education and development", and will include seminars on practical Mathematics and its relevance to everyday life activities and how mathematics ensures the efficiency of all things that we do.

According to Prof. Anku, the target audience includes a sample of students and teachers of basic schools, senior high schools, polytechnics, colleges of education, NVTI/TVET institutions, regional and district mathematics organisers.

The statement said letters have already been sent to all Regional Directors of Education and the Minister of Education has been requested to liaise with the regional directors to give the Road Show Team (of six personnel) maximum co-operation and support in terms of release of students and teachers to attend the seminars, provision of accommodation and feeding of the team members and provision of a venue to hold the seminars.

This support should be seen as their contribution towards this national programme to revamp mathematics education in Ghana.

"The Road show Team is also inviting any individual and corporate organisations that want to help in either cash or kind to contact us through the Daily Graphic. Furthermore, the team is requesting other media houses, especially the local FM stations, to give the road show the necessary coverage to sensitise the population to the need to use mathematics for the efficient development of Ghana," it said.

The event will be organised by Meagasa Mathematics Academy, in collaboration with the Ghana Mathematics Society.
