Bibiani (W/R), Aug. 30, GNA - The Bibiani Circuit Court has remanded a 29-year old small-scale miner standing trial for alleged rape into prison custody.

Yaw Owusu denied the offence and would re-appear on Wednesday, September 2.

Police Inspector Lucky Gogolomi told the Court presided over by Mr Justice Emmanuel Ankamah that the victim is a 21-year old hairdresser at Sefwi-Antobia.

The accused is engaged in small-scale mining at Sefwi-Juaboso.

The prosecution said the lady was on a night out on May 9, when Owusu and a friend, one Kwaata, now at large, lured her to the local Junior High School and forcibly had sex with her.

He said shouts from the lady attracted some people in the neighbourhood who came to her rescue.

Owusu was arrested while his accomplice managed to escape.

Police Inspector Gogolomi said medical doctors, who examined her, confirmed that she was raped.
