Juju Man Flees, After stabbing driver
17.12.2002 LISTEN

A jujuman (magician), who used his magical skills to thrill an audience at Djekiti, in the Asuogyaman District, had to abandon the show midway and flee for his dear life after a taxi driver he had stabbed as part of the display fell unconscious. The magician, Kwaku Ntiamoah, popularly known as Father Blackstone, got scared when he could not revive Samuel Aboagye, the taxi driver, to prove his magical prowess. He therefore discontinued the show and fled the town to avoid the wrath of the audience, who were aggressively looking for him to vent their spleen. For almost three weeks, the Akosombo Police have been looking for Ntiamoah until he was spotted at Asesewa, in the Upper Manya Krobo District, where he was arrested and put before court. According to the prosecutor, Ms Emelia Kessie, on November 4, Ntiamoah held a magical show at Djekiti. She said while the show was in progress the magician requested a volunteer to give him a T-shirt to use for a great magical feat. The prosecutor said Aboagye obliged and removed his T-shirt and gave it to Ntiamoah, who after reciting some magical incantations turned the shirt into a beautiful kente cloth. This, the prosecutor said, won the admiration of the large audience.Ms Kessie continued that just then Aboagye shouted from the crowd that he needed his T-shirt because he wanted to go to work. The magician, according to the prosecutor, invited Aboagye to come over to the stage, which he did. She said Ntiamoah then removed a knife and stabbed the driver. Contrary to the magicians claim that nothing would happen to the driver when stabbed, the latter could not survive the stab and immediately fell unconscious. At this stage, Ntiamoah, the prosecutor said, panicked and bolted. She said Aboagye who was bleeding profusely was rushed by some good Samaritans to the VRA Hospital at Akosombo. Ms Kessie said Ntiamoah, who had gone into hiding, was later arrested and put before the Manya Krobo Circuit Court.Ntiamoah in custody to appear later
