The STX Housing saga has dragged on for quite a while and one thing is clear. the NDC government and its agents are hell bent on bankrupting our country for thirty pieces of silver. First they failed even to do due diligence on the contract resulting in NPP members in parliament and civic society organisations condemning the deal as not being in the interest of the country and the minority going to expose issues such as the lack of basics such as performance agreements and building designs!
Our own investigations and even speaking to some NDG members who are also uncomfortable about this deal but cannot say it in public, for fear of being vilified we have made more startling discoveries which re-enforces our position that this is the worst deal that any government in Ghana, and even in the world can commit itself to.
Over the last three weeks, since the deal was withdrawn from parliament and with the support of patriotic Ghanaians in the Ministry of finance ,We have established the following
• STX has registered in Ghana at the Registrar Generals department and has 15.000 Shares representing 70% shares
• A company called GK (Ghana Korea) Airports Limited is the minority Shareholder with 7000 shares representing 30% of the company
• The Directors of this company in Ghana are Daniel Juing(Korean)
• Kook Hyun Kim{Korean),Su Jou Kim(Korean) Joesph Asafo
Boakye(Ghanaian)
• We have discovered thai GK Airports is a subsidiary of a company called GK Holdings which in itself is a member of the Delaware and Owl Group of companies. A typical ploy used by organisations to dodge and evade tax!!
• The company in its brochure says it carries out railways, airports, mining, city designs and other project infrastructure. There is no evidence that it carries out projects on housing
• The company claims it has been awarded several contracts in Kazakstan and Ghana. Yet there is no evidence of any contract in Ghana. We are aware they got a contract to expand Airports In Suynani, Takoradi, and Kumasi about 2 years ago but they were unable to raise the money,
We are at a loss to understand that in the STX contract, this information has been withheld. What role is GK Airports gOing to play in this contract? Are they assisting in raising money for STX Construction and Engineering, or are they providing a consultancy service and at what cost? Are they acting for themselves. for certain individuals or for the government?
If NDC is the elected government of the republic of Ghana, why is a private company, that has no evidence of building houses having 30% of the shareholding?
The question we ask today is who stands to really gain from this contract? Mr Alban Bagbin, the Housing Minister says we are jealous. Well we believe if our so called jealousy will lead to accountability and expose individuals in government including certain Ministers who are prepared to bankrupt Ghana and make millions of dollars because by the time it happens they may be too old to remember when called to give account or dead, then so be it . We are not here to run a comedy club!llWe have a responsibility as Ghanaians and politicians to do this. We make no apology for speaking the truth. Mr Bagbin can act like a Minister, stop displaying such arrogance and answer the simple questions that we ask .After all we, the taxpayer pay his wages!!!
We still believe that the best way forward is to give the building of the housing units to Ghanaian Housing developers on a long term basis that pay taxes in Ghana, building intellectual and technological property in Ghana and would create jobs for Ghanaians instead of Koreans. This is what a government that cares about its people will do. We support and welcome foreign investment but not when it is mired in confusion and deceit. The STX deal is a sham and NPP and all Ghanaians should have nothing to do with a deal that only seeks to consign our country to a slow and agonising death within 20 years.
We will be back with more information for Ghanaians as we seek to confirm the names of those who stand to gain and the percentage that certain NDC Ministers of stale and some selfish Individuals around President Mills would get jf the deal is ratified by Parliament.
President Mills and John Mahama must fight corruption by putting our country first and they can start by ending this fraudulent and corrupt deal now!!!
Thank You
