A bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of Selasse O'Sullivan-Djentuh, ex-boyfriend of Ezenator Rawlings, daughter of former President Jerry John Rawlings, by an Accra Circuit court.

Selasse is being sought by the court in connection with his alleged involvement in a fraudulent land sale, worth GH¢30,000, at Spintex Road in Accra.

At the Accra Circuit Court where the case was slated for hearing yesterday, the accused person, who is a real estate agent, even though was reportedly informed to appear in court, failed to do so and did not write to the court to explain why he could not make it.

A bench warrant was consequently issued for his arrest by the trial Judge Mrs. Doris Bempong, at the instance of the prosecutor, ASP Aidan Dery.

He is to answer to charges relating to defrauding by false pretences.

The facts of the matter before the court are that the complainant, Agnes Pokua, is a trader and resident of Nima, while the accused person is an estate agent residing at Spintex Road.

It said in 2008, the accused person, who claimed to have a parcel of land at Spintex Road, sold two plots of the alleged land to the complainant for GH¢50,000, with the complainant making part payment of GH¢30,000 to the accused person.

According to the facts, Sellasse did not give the woman any documents on the land but rather advised her to develop it and when she started putting up a building on it, she was chased by some persons who claimed ownership of the land.

Furthermore, it said enquiries conducted at the Lands Commission showed that the accused person had no title to the land, so the complainant, who lost interest in the land, demanded a refund but the accused person did not give the money back to her but kept promising to do so.

It noted that on February 9, 2010, a report was made to the police and the accused person was arrested. He admitted to the offence but only refunded GH¢10,900, after which he was charged for defrauding by false pretences.
