THREE TO REPRESENT GHANA AT PRESIDENT OBAMA’S FIRST YOUTH FORUM

By Mahama, Zainab M

President Barrack Obama will host approximately 120 young African leaders in Washington, D.C., August 3-5. Three Ghanaians have an unprecedented opportunity to be part of this broad cross-section of Africa's next generation of leaders and learn more about their roles as catalysts for transformational change and new growth in their societies. The three include Kojo Asante of CDD-Ghana, Shamima Muslim of Metro TV and Citi FM, and Anas Armeyaw Anas of the New Crusading Guide.

The participants to the forum, who have also been invited to participate in a town hall meeting with President Obama on August 3 were selected by U. S. Embassies throughout sub-Saharan Africa from across civil society and business represent achievement in non-government organizations, the law, rights advocacy, publishing, religion, health, media, and other sectors.

The two-and-one-half day forum is based on the idea that the United States can be a stronger partner to Africa by building better relationships to next-generation leaders and deepening the strategic outlook. The Forum will serve as a springboard to new thinking in American policymaking and private sector circles about the trajectories of sub-Saharan African states. It will provide opportunities to learn from change agents in Africa about the demands for transformation that are emerging from the region's vast youthful population.
