EMRC continues to forge partnerships towards sustainable growth in Africa

Brussels, 10 March 2010
Brussels-based EMRC continues to promote the formation of business partnerships towards sustainable development in Africa with the announcement of their upcoming Africa-Israel Agricultural Trade Mission. A select group of 35 to 40 African entrepreneurs and officials will be travelling to Israel where they will be immersed in the Israeli agro-industry and agro-food sectors for five days. The trade mission is designed to engage the African visitors in the innovative technologies and methodologies employed by Israeli agriculturalists.

The itinerary of the Africa-Israel Agricultural Trade Mission includes visits to farms that utilise high-end drip-irrigation systems, dairy, poultry and post-harvest techniques, amongst others. The participants will be able to observe and interact with their Israeli counterparts at each farm visit and are encouraged to share their own experience and knowledge across the various agri-business sectors.

“A number of the challenges faced by Israeli farmers resemble those experienced by agriculturalists across different regions in Africa; by drawing on the Israeli agro-business experience, success and innovation, African farmers are inspired and armed with ideas for uplifting the productivity back home. At the same time, the Israeli farmers welcome the input from their visitors and enjoy meeting new business acquaintances with whom future cross-regional partnerships can be developed.” Idit Miller, MD and Vice-President of EMRC.

The trade mission will also include visits to the fascinating ancient cities of Jerusalem, Nazareth and Bethlehem, where the participants will be able to relax and enjoy the rich heritage of the region.

EMRC's Africa-Israel Agricultural Trade Mission will take place from the 25th to the 29th of April 2010. Registration has opened and places are already filling up.

“At EMRC we are driven by the United Nation's 8th Millennium Development Goal to 'develop global partnerships for development'. We believe in the overwhelming potential of Africa, particularly when it comes to playing an active role in solving the global food security crises, and our belief is that it is through the development of meaningful business partnerships and the sharing of experience, skills and knowledge that sustainable development will be achieved” concludes Idit Miller.

Interested participants are urged to contact EMRC and book a place on the Africa-Israel Agricultural Trade Mission at info@emrc.be.
