Mpraeso Circuit Court sentenced 21-year-old shoemaker to four years imprisonment

Mpraeso (E/R), Feb. 28, GNA - A Circuit court at Mpraeso presided over by Mr Alex Owusu Ofori has sentenced a 21-year-old Shoemaker to four years imprisonment in hard labour for stealing electrical appliances worth 452 Ghana cedis.

The Shoemaker, Jacob Avoglah pleaded guilty to all the three counts of unlawful entry, causing damage and stealing

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector of Police, Mr Emmanuel Okudzeto told the court that both the complainant and the accused person live at Noyem near Okoase.

He said the complainant had a kiosk behind his house with a television set and other electrical appliances, where he watches films and play video games with his friends.

The Prosecutor said at about 1.30 a.m. on the February 8 this year, the complainant's mother heard an unusual noise in the kiosk and rushed to the kiosk to find out what was happening and realized that the padlock to the kiosk had been broken and the doors forced opened, with some of the electrical appliances taken away.

He said the mother informed the complainant and an alarm was raised and the accused was later arrested at the road side with a fertilizer sack containing two compact disk (CD) player machines, one amplifier, a Nokia mobile phone and 15 compact disk cassettes valued at 452 Ghana Cedis, which belong to the Complainant.

Chief Inspector Okudzeto said the accused was arrested and sent to the Afosu police station and during interrogation he admitted the offence and was charged and sent to court.
