Cape Coast, Feb. 25, GNA - Charles Quainoo, a Cape Coast driver, was sentenced to a fine of GH¢2,100.00 for careless and inconsiderate driving, negligently causing harm and failure to report an accident, by Cape Coast metropolitan circuit court.
He pleaded guilty to all the three counts and will go to prison for 32 years in default.
Prosecution said on September 2007 the convict, who driving a bus from Cape Coast to Twifo Praso knocked down a three-year-old boy, Stephen Abbam.
He took the boy to the Jukwa Health Centre where he was treated and discharged.
Complications set in the following day and he was sent to the Central Regional Hospital but died on admission.
Passing sentence the presiding judge, Mrs Florence Kai Out, said road signs are not there for fancy. Drivers should therefore observe road signs and reduce speed when entering a town.
