18.01.2010 LISTEN
By Daniel Nonor - Ghanaian Chronicle

In line to promote Ghanaian products and to ensure that adequate Ghanaian made products were made available to residents of Spintex Road in Accra, the Managers of GhanaMade, a company registered in the country to promote and market made in Ghana products have opened yet another outlet on the Spintex raod

This brings to two, the number of outlets in that area and 10 in both Tema and Accra.

The Managing Director of GhanaMade, Mrs. Comfort Aniagyei in an interview with The Chronicle shortly after the commissioning of the Spintex Road outlet, noted that her outfit's decision to open yet another outlet was to ensure that the company met the high demands of locally produced products in the area and the Ghanaian market as well as to continue to give locally produced goods the needed marketing it deserve to strive.

Mrs. Aniagyei observed that the opening of the shop was a clear indication that her outfit maintained its promise of serving as the bridge between producers of local products and their consumers who live in different parts of the country.

She mentioned as regrettable Ghanaians insatiable quest for anything foreign whose sources were sometimes not known at the expense of locally produced products which are of higher quality compared to most of their foreign counterparts.

“GhanaMade is here to bring a change in that trend so that the very locally manufactured products can get marketed, something that has not been done vigorously in the past” she told this paper.

The MD enumerated the immense benefits the country stands to gain if it gave priority to its local industry. Notable among them is the massive increase in job opportunities for the several unemployed Ghanaian youth.

She paid tribute to the efforts of investors who according to her have significantly improved the quality of products whiles packaging continues to receive  a lot of attention with cost management continually pursued to ensure reasonable pricing of the locally products.

She mentioned further ,that the company's four brands of locally milled rice Oman Ba, Dada Ba, Gold Star and Northern Star did very well on the market with their demand still high, especially during the yuletide, taking into consideration the short period the brands were introduced onto the market.

Mrs. Aniagyei observed that a lot of research had gone into producing all four brands of the rice, adding that they had all gone through the stages as de-stoning and sorting to ensure that the finished products were free from stones and other debris and further mentioned that the rice were properly sorted according to its status post milling.

“The survival of the newly outdoored outlet as well as the nine other outlets would largely depend on the change in attitude of Ghanaians towards the purchase of locally manufactured products as against the imported ones,” Mrs. Aniagyei remarked, bringing an end to this paper's interview with her.
