
The Ministry of Trade and Industry has conferred various degrees of awards on twenty Business and Financial Services institutions operating in the country under the Second Ghana Business and Financial Services Excellence Awards held at The La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra last week on the theme, “Promoting Ghana's Economic Development”.
The organisations, drawn from those operating in the areas of agro-exports, agro- processing, commerce, energy, estate development, ICT, tourism, urban road construction, rural banking, financial services, and others, were awarded gold, silver and bronze respectively judging from the quality of their products, services, innovations, and contributions to the development agenda of the nation.
In the area of estate development, DEVTRACO Ltd was commended for their initiative of creating the platform for parents to assist their children to start early savings towards the ownership of their own home in the future with their Wo Ba Daakye program and was conferred a silver award.
In a keynote address delivered by the Guest of Honour, Ms. Hanna Tetteh, the Minister for Trade and Industry, congratulated the Awards Committee for the criteria employed in judging the winners. She lauded the choice of strategic industries and those promoting rural integration in endeavours to improve the nation's economy as well as enhance the livelihoods of the people.
In a welcome address, the Chairman, Nana Prah Agyensaim VI, Omanhene of Assin Kushea Traditional Area and former Member of the Council of State, stated that the Ghana Business and Financial Services Excellence Awards Scheme was established as an integral part of the Golden Jubilee Ghana @50 celebration / programme to enhance the nation's economic development and honour companies deemed to have contributed significantly to the economic growth of Ghana.
