Manhyia, (Ash), Dec. 14, GNA - Four teachers and six pupils of the Atwima-Manhyia Methodist Primary School have been honoured for their hard work and outstanding academic performance.
They received cash prizes ranging from GH¢150.00 to GH¢20.00.
The award scheme was instituted by Professor Daniel Bour, Provost of the College of Art and Social Science, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
This is the second time prizes had been presented to deserving teachers and pupils since the establishment of the scheme barely two years ago.
Professor Bour, a former student of the school, said this was his contribution towards efforts at raising academic performance.
He said he was confident that the teachers and pupils would be motivated to work hard to achieve excellence.
He also used the occasion to invite the elite to give back to society what they had taken from it by joining in efforts at education development.
Mr Kwabena Kesse, Chief Executive of Kessben Group of Companies and a native of the town, praised Professor Bour for the initiative and said this was a challenge to the school to produce results.
Mrs Vida Owusu Sekyere was adjudged the overall best teacher while Jennifer Agyapong won the ultimate for academic performance.
