The ION Film Festival holding on Rivers State soil at this time is a vote of confidence by the international organisers in recognition of the now peaceful ambience of the state as one of the most hospitable home centers in Nigeria in stark contrast to its recent hostile past.
According to Prince Tonye Princewill the arrow head of the opposition in Rivers State, Atiku Abubakar visit to PH besides honouring the ION International Film Festival invitation, is largely aimed at motivating and mobilizing the Rivers State AC into attending the forthcoming AC National Convention scheduled for Lagos on 12th December, 2009 where far reaching decisions will be taken to recover and reposition the party for the forth coming Elections in the polity. The general public particularly the political class are aware that Atiku Abubakar takes Rivers State as a second home after Adamawa State and that Rivers State AC Chapter is a chapter after his heart.
