Kumasi, Dec 4, GNA - The police in the Ashanti Region have arrested a 26-year-old Togolese for cultivating Indian hemp on a two-acre land at Yawtokrom near Abofour in the Offinso North District.
Kobla Dzedzelo alias "Wofa K" is now being held by the Drugs Law Enforcement Unit in Kumasi.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Kingsley Aboagye led a team of eight policemen to arrest him on the wee farm that he intercropped with pepper, maize and cocoyam on Thursday at about 0845 hours.
Mr Aboagye told the Ghana News Agency that they acted on a tip off.
He said a locally manufactured singled barrelled gun loaded with "BB" cartridge was seized from Dzedzelo who admitted ownership of the farm.
Mr Aboagye said Dzedzelo would be put before court to face criminal charges as soon as investigations are completed.
The farm has been destroyed.
