Nkoranza sets up anti bushfire task force

Nkoranza (B/A), Dec. 2, GNA - Mr. Joseph Tashiru, Nkoranza District Operational Fire Officer has urged teachers to educate students about the causes and effects of bushfires.
He called on religious groups to undertake similar education to ensure that the people would be cautious about the way the handle naked fires and use electrical gadgets in their homes.
Mr. Tashiru was speaking at the inauguration of Nkoranza South District Anti-Bushfire taskforce at Nkoranza.
Mr. Evans Osei-Worae, Nkoranza South District Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), appealed to assembly members and traditional authorities to support and encourage local fire volunteers in combating bushfires.
Mr. Kwadwo Barfi, Nkwabeng zonal NADMO Coordinator, expressed concern about how bushfires had become perennial at Yeboaso and called on the committee to work hard to apprehend perpetrators.
The seven-member taskforce is made up of representatives from the Ghana Police Service, Ministry of Food and Agriculture, NADMO, Forestry Department and Nkoranza Traditional Council.
