NGO Rescues Nima & Mallam-Attah

THE INFANTA Malaria Prevention Foundation (IMPF), a health NGO recently organized a medical outreach program for members of the Nima branch of Initiative Development, a micro finance company, in collaboration with its parent organization and the Acts in Africa (AIA) group. 

The beneficiaries comprising mostly women were educated on the need to keep their surroundings clean and report to health facilities for immediate care for illnesses instead of self-medicating.

They were also taught how to use insecticide-treated mosquito nets.

The AIA group tested children under five for malaria and administered anti-malaria drugs and multivitamin syrup to those that tested positive for the disease.

 The women were also checked for high blood pressure and sensitized on family planning. The Infanta Malaria Prevention Foundation donated malaria testing kits, medicines and treated nets costing GH¢3,000.

IMPF further extended its medical outreach to female porters and their children at the Mallam-Attah Market.

The event which was highly patronized saw to the testing of 150 children for malaria by the AIA and volunteers from University of Ghana Medical School.

Other organizations present at the event were the Prudential Bank who sensitized the women on the need to adopt saving as a way of life, WISE and Circle of Youth Foundation.

IMPF, according to Madam Lois Okudzeto, an Executive Member, had plans to replicate the program in all major markets in the capital. The Foundation then donated GH¢2,000 towards the purchase of treated mosquito nets, testing kits and medicine.
