Coordinate development activities with chiefs … Krachiwura tells assemblies

Krachiwura, Nana Mprah Besemuna III has called on the two District Assemblies in the area to collaborate activities to ensure total development of the area. According him, though there are two Districts, they all belong to one traditional council hence the need to facilitate development in a coordinated manner to address the development needs of the people.

He noted that there could be no meaningful development if the Assemblies did not liaise effectively with the chiefs to plan development projects, which he pointed out was vital to ensuring the accelerated development of the area.

The Krachiwura who was speaking at the yam festival at Borae, was however quick to add that much was needed from traditional rulers in their respective areas to maintain peace as a complementary role to the development efforts of the District Assemblies. He noted that since there could not be any meaningful progress in areas of conflict, chiefs had the greatest responsibility to ensure law and order in their communities.

Nana Mprah Besemuna also advised the various settler communities in the Krachi-East and West to respect chiefs in their areas since any attempt to undermine them would not be a healthy development.

The District Chief Executive for Krachi-West, Mr. Moses Kwame Punyah said the Assembly had drawn development plans that would ensure equal development in communities in the area and called for peace and unity among the people to help accelerate development in the area.

Mr. Punyah stressed the importance of the observation of basic hygienic practices in their communities and urged Assembly Members to help ensure that people did not allow their animals to deficate indiscriminately as well as destroyed farms. “You should be able to arrest such stray animals and fine the owners since it is against the by-laws of the Assembly”, he stressed.

Touching on the issues of education, the DCE said the poor academic performance of pupils at the basic level should be a concern to all, noting that both parents and teachers should help improve on teaching and learning.

The DCE for Krachi-East, Mr. Raphael Kofi Ogyemonko urged the people to use festivals to plan towards development of their communities and pointed out that if festivals were not seen to be projecting the development agenda, it would lose its value.
