The CPP's agenda to wrest for itself a leading role in Ghana's governance and set the agenda for social transformation towards a just and fair society is in motion despite significant challenges and moves by its detractors to stop the forward march.
The CPP is playing a pivotal role in restoring sanity to Ghana's political discourse by offering solutions derived from rational and realistic debate of national issues. The party's leadership has resolved to end the perpetuation of a two party diatribe that is steeped in acrimony and the politics of hate, envy and vengeance.
CPP leadership is convinced that such antagonism as exist between political opponents does not reflect the true character of the largely peace loving and fair minded Ghanaians. The people of Ghana want better than that and the CPP will deliver better when elected into office.
CPP leadership is now more than ever very focused and galvanized after the last general elections and is committed and dedicated to achieving the Nkrumaist agenda.
As we make these strides, it is wise to caution members and the public against misinterpreting the differences in strategies for the CPP's revival and rejuvenation as divisions among CPP members in favor of any other party.
Our chosen strategy of positive neutrality in the past and constructive criticism for today is for the benefit of CPP's agenda for the nation and not any other party! We remain focused on the CPP's agenda of transformative change and in due course it will materialize.
Regions, Constituencies and Wards have been advised to start organizing and admittedly a lot still needs to be done! Our rank and file are enthusiastically contributing to the constitutional review process with solicitations sent to all constituencies.
National executives are rallying support for a big push towards congress and will soon outdoor a Special Task Force around which we will stand united. While all that is good for the party, we must not allow internal leadership contests among prominent members of the party to become rallying points for divisive and self destructive conduct again!
Mechanisms are being put in place to constrain the excesses of such leadership contests and conduct that have hurt the party in the past. We are well aware that it is only the existence and proper functioning of institutions that can safe guard the party against the inevitable internal tensions that arise out of differences of opinion, preferences for strategies and leaders.
It is with this in mind that we advise all members to operate strictly within the bounds of the party structures to build a common network of executives and activists from grassroots to national level.
We therefore urge our members to stay true to our cause and work with leadership in good faith to restore the CPP to its rightful place as a leading party in Ghana. There are many challenges but they are not insurmountable. The good people of Ghana are yearning for an alternative that only the CPP can offer. To suggest that the CPP is incapable of reinventing itself is ludicrous.
No party has had to reinvent itself through as many trials, persecutions and outright subversive obstruction as the CPP. Our progress has been marred on more than one occasion by our detractors. We will not however, sit down to cry over spilt milk. We are marching forward!
Politics for us will always be a matter of winning hearts, minds and souls. This leadership will never allow the pursuit of our goal of a revitalized and triumphant CPP to become a matter of breaking bones, shedding blood, victimization or exclusion of others from their right to opportunity as fellow Ghanaians. The CPP is uniquely placed to help Ghana grow and mature out of such negative politics.
More than 99% of members that have remained in the CPP through thick and thin are hardcore committed Nkrumaists that have put the survival and growth of the party above their own interests and ambitions. We are aware that some Nkrumaists, for the sake of expediency, self gratiation or genuine belief in an alternative strategy have departed to the ranks of NPP and NDC or are sitting on the fence.
Collectively they are a large bulk of the floating voters that are now so important to the outcome of elections in Ghana. A strategy to win these members back will be executed once the party gets past congress but even now we call on them to come home to CPP and get involved! You can be part of the change in leadership to further energize, focus and direct the party's resources towards pursuing a strategy for renewed growth amid the realities of a changing political landscape of a democracy in transition.
CPP leadership is ardently working to achieve the institutional arrangements needed to position the party firmly on a forward footing well in time for the 2012 election campaign. We ask our members to beware of those who will distract us and divide our ranks with insinuations, innuendos and outright falsehoods, do not allow it! Do not lend your voices or talents to the various clandestine vanguard movements that serve only one purpose, the retarding of our forward march to victory!
True CPP members are synonymous with true Nkrumaists! But not all Nkrumaists are members of CPP. After all we have Nkrumaists spread all over the continent of Africa and in the Diaspora! Such arguments as espoused by some publications as to which party is made of true Nkrumaists is in our opinion a moot point.
All will do well to remember that “You shall know them by their fruit”. We welcome all Nkrumaists to help the CPP save Ghana from the diatribe of acrimonious politics between the NDC and NPP.
We recommend to all Ghanaians the creation of an alternative platform of reasoned debate and pursuit of national goals for development, that platform is the Convention People's Party.
Nkrumaists should not and must not be caught up among the pall bearers wailing at our nation's imminent demise. Nkrumaists must bear the torch of hope and inspiration for all Ghanaians. We must therefore show by example and in deeds that Nkrumaists walk the path of comradeship, forbearance, acceptance and inclusion. After all it is in caring that we share and it is in sharing that we care! If we care we shall forgive and if we share we shall achieve!
Together as Ghanaians we can build a new alternative and be architects of our own future, that future lies with a revitalized and rejuvenated Convention People's Party that speaks to Ghanaians of every persuasion.
God Bless our homeland Ghana! Forward ever backwards never!
