The leadership quality, education, and experience of any person to be allowed to candidate should be investigated prior to allowing this person to be brought out. We must bear in mind that there may be other issues which people will raise which may not have significant bearing on the individual for dispensing his duty as a leader. These things should not be made relevant in order for us to loose someone who may be a positive change agent in the country. Having said this concerning the responsibility of the party officials, the nation itself should not make any tribal affiliation to blind their power to choose the best candidate that would perform well for the country. - By: Desmond Ayim-Aboagye

The Daily Graphic lauds governments decision to re-engage Vodafone based on the recommendations of the committee it set up to review the sale and purchase agreement between Vodafone and the government. Certain controversial aspects of the deal including national fibre optic facility, Ghana Telecom University College, landed and other property of the erstwhile Ghana Telecom will form the basis for the re-engagement.

According to the Graphic, the government will look more closely at the operations of Ghana telecom, particularly the huge debt it accumulated before the deal to help determine its geniuses or otherwise.

This move to the paper is a fulfillment of an electoral promise by the NDC to take a second look at the GT-Vodafone deal when it comes to power. The Daily Graphic sees this as a way forward towards deepening democracy and promoting national interest.

The Independent comments on the fire outbreak at the Foreign Affairs Ministry. It says Ghanaians woke up to hear very say news of a fire outbreak at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Co-operation. The paper calls the arrest of some three officers of the ministry who are helping to unravel the cause of the fire outbreak.
