The Constitutional requirement that 50 plus one members of Parliament be appointed Ministers has been identified as an area of concern for Affirmative Action on Women's participation in politics.
The Chairman of the parliamentary Select committee on Gender and Children, Sampson Ahi stated this at a meeting in Parliament with a delegation of Women in law and Development in Africa, WILDAF Ghana led by the national programme Coordinator, Bernice Sam.
Mr. Ahi challenged the electorate to support women in the next local level elections as a way of advancing women's' development.
The meeting analysed an Affirmative Action Policy on Women's participation in politics.
The National Programme Cordinator, Madam Bernice Sam noted with satisfaction, the Laws on Women and Children in Ghana. She however regretted that women's participation in Governance has been minimal and called for what she termed a balance in the equation in governance.
