The Member of Parliament for Asikuma-Odobeng-Brakwa constituency of the Central Region, Paul Collins Appiah-Ofori says the current stance of government to re-engage with authorities of Vodafon on the sale of GT to Vodafon is embarrassing, to say the least.

The MP says, what government should have done was to abrogate the existing contract between the government of Ghana and Vodafon.

In a statement released by the Office of the President and signed by Chief of Staff, John Martey Newman, government said among others that it will re-engage with the management of Vodafon to ensure that the transaction complies with the nation's laws.

Government also said it has accepted recommendations of its inter-ministerial committee set up to review the sale and purchase agreement between the government of Ghana and Vodafon Plc.

The statement also said, the re-engagement will also include issues such as the National Fibre Optic Backbone, an investigation into alleged financial irregularities of the period leading to the sale of GT during the tenure of an IMC led by Engineer Dickson Oduro Nyaning.

These are the issues that have incensed the anti-corruption campaigner and Member of Parliament for the Asikuma-Odobeng-Brakwa constituency who describes the actions of the president as a betrayal of trust.

P.C. Appiah Ofori says by the action of the current administration (not abrogating the contract), rumours that some monies have changed hands stand confirmed. He was speaking on Asempa FM's current affairs program Ekosii Sen.
