Churchsl urge police commander to reflect candour in his work

Ho, Oct 22, GNA - The Senya-Bereku Christian Council of Churches, comprising 13 orthodox and Pentecostal churches, on Wednesday urged Assistant Commissioner of Police David Ampah-Bennin, the Volta Regional Police Commander to reflect astuteness, piety, candour and valour in his work as a policeman.

Rev George Danso-Ansah, General Secretary of the Council, said this when he led 15 pastors of the council to Ho to pay homage and show solidarity with Mr Ampah-Bennin on his appointment as Volta Regional Police Commander.

Rev. Danso-Ansah, Pastor of the Berean Pentecostal Church, said as a Minister of Religion, Mr Ampah-Bennin ought to touch the lives of people in a special way in the line of duty so as to promote peace and stability in the country.

He commended Mr Ampah-Bennin, who hails from Senya-Bereku, for his spiritual and material support to the ministry back home at Senya-Beraku.

Mr Ampah-Bennin told the GNA that being a pastor and police was challenging but not at variance.

He said the policeman or woman was essentially a peace officer and it was therefore not strange for a policeman to be a pastor.

Asked if being a reverend did not render him soft for the job of policing, he said the police operate with the law, which the instinct of pastor prompts him to follow religiously.
