Africa investor convenes business leaders to discuss African business priorities for COP15

South Africa, Cape Town, Johannesburg, 13 October 2009: Africa investor, a leading international investment research and communication group, today announced that the 2009 Africa investor CEO Forum on Infrastructure, Energy and Clean Tech Projects will host an invitation-only high-level working lunch session on 21 October. The lunch will discuss the views of businesses operating in Africa and the elements of COP15, during Cape Town Green Week.

The lunch is sponsored by PetroSA. The Africa investor CEO Forum is held in association with UNEP FI and will take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

This high-level working lunch will take place during the CEO Forum and convene Africa's leading CEOs and companies committed to sustainable development to discuss their views on climate change, energy and Africa's industrial development. This session will contribute the findings to leading African and International policy-makers ahead of COP15 and feature dedicated roundtables on each key priority, with one high-level chair overseeing each discussion:

Table 6: Disaster Preparedness and Risk Reduction

The outcomes of the working session will be featured and distributed in the –January-February edition of Africa investor magazine (English and Chinese versions) and be shared with the United Nations.
The Africa investor CEO Forum on Infrastructure, Energy and Clean Tech Projects is a unique business forum for decision makers and is aimed at facilitating action to highlight and address project specific investment climate challenges and to shed light on Africa's investment success stories.

Speaking on the programme, Robert Tacon, Chairman of UNEP FI, said: “The association with Africa investor is critical in ensuring that the collective views of the African finance, investment and business communities on climate change action are crystallised during our meetings in Cape Town and transferred concretely to the UN negotiations in Denmark. We are delighted to be collaborating with Africa investor during what is fast becoming 'Cape Town's Green Week'.”

Alongside the Summit, Africa investor will host the Infrastructure Awards as well as the Investment and Business Leader Awards to reward exceptional business practices, economic achievements and investments across the investment spectrum in Africa. Winners of the Africa investor Infrastructure Awards will be announced on the 21 October 2009 and the Investment and Business Leader Awards winners will be announced on the 22 October 2009 during the UNEP FI gala dinner in recognition of the winners.
